Super yummy wet burrito! The sauce is really good, more of a brown sauce instead of red with good flavor. Huge burrito that could easily be 2 meals. Little hole in the wall place but most definitely worth a stop!

My mom had been taking us here since I was TINY! It's been here at least 20 years! I do not live in MI anymore but I always think about Jose's and how delish their cheese is its just GOOD and we usually get the combination and recommend and love!!! The tostadas :) just like another person said you either really love it or you really hate it but not bc of the food it's bc all of mexican restaurants are Americanized these days this place is very Authentic! I LOVE IT

Can't order just one steak taco, it's not allowed. Guacamole is not fresh or home made, reminded me of the pre made stuff you can buy at Meijer . Chicken is same quality of Taco Bell chicken. Almost tasted and felt fake. I don't recommend this place if you know what tacos taste like... Taco Bell quality .

A friend was excited to tell me about this place. She loves the burritos and gets lots of lettuce and cheese to put on them. So, I went to check it out. The place isn't fancy and was fairly busy for 5pm on a Saturday night. The chips and salsa were standard. I got a bean burrito, and there was nothing notable other than its large size. I feel like I got my money's worth. The waiter was was young but very good. I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place, but it's inexpensive.

Really disappointed. The food is average to subaverage for Mexican in GR. Don't come here if your a vegetarian. The salsa is lacking heat. Do yourself a favor and go to Lindo instead. Or anywhere else.

Server was not super friendly. I ordered a cheese and onion enchilada with no meat, came with meat sauce. Average food, best for a quick meal after the bar aka the Mexican Denny's.

We love Jose's! We've been going since it was just hole in the wall just a block or two away... when the parking lot could hold four vehicles. Firstly their pop is the fizziest pop you'll ever have! Goes great with all the delicious food! I love the cheese enchiladas with rice! Girlfriend always gets the taco combo. We share, and it's pretty much best of both worlds! They use a different kind of cheese (asked one drunken night and the waitress thought I was insane!)... People we bring with us either HATE it or LOVE it! Not the best mexican food I've ever had... But a solid 4 star all around!

Over priced. Food is mediocre. This place has lost it's way. Was once a great place for taste and price.

I usually agree with John B. on his reviews, but this place did not light my fire. I tried the chicken burrito and was not satisfied. The chicken was dry and/or old. I have had much better burritos at other restaurants. Having said that I'd agree that if you want a burrito avoid the 28th and Division place. Go here long before then. I'd lick the floor here before I'd eat that other places food.

I eat here several times a week.. Good food! I usually get a wet burrito or chalupas. They do use velveeta cheese, which some people dont like so much, but I do. What really stands out is the gravy they use. It has a wonderfully authentic Mexican flavor, and the cheese seems to compliment it. The food is always fresh, hot, and very tasty. Grab a large wet burrito for 7 bucks and give it a shot.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
